Well last week Ethan had this third surgery here at the hospital (it was on the 16th of July). He had two hernia's in the lower abdomen. He surgery was a success and nothing went wrong with it. Each hernia was about 45 minutes. He has swelling and it is slowly going away now. He is a little bruising there still but it will be gone soon. We were there when they brought him back and he was knock out for sure. We were joking that we should cut his finger and toe nails now because he won't fuss over that. These hernia's might help him with this oxygen as the nurses say. So we will see on that and hopefully it will work.
He is progressing on his feedings now. In order for him to go home (which there has been talk but not a for sure date yet) he has to take all his feedings for 2 to 3 days straight. He gets it about 8 times a day. He seems to want it on his own clock, he picks and chooses on what feeds he wants. So I guess we are going on his clock, he already has a personality. This is kind of funny when he doesn't want his bottle anymore, he closes his mouth and does this look on his face and says NO. The wife I laugh each time.
They said more likely he will go home on oxygen so that will be a fun event in our home. They are working on him with putting him in a bouncer and a car seat. He needs to pass the car seat test before going home. Basically make sure he can maintain his numbers and oxygen when seating up. He goes on the bouncer almost every day. The nurses did his car seat test yesterday and he failed it. So just in time he will conquer it and master the sitting in the car seat.
Well before his surgery Ethan weight at 5 lbs 15 oz. They shot him up with so many liquids before the surgery and during that when they weight him after surgery he went up 195 grams, which shot it up to 6 lbs 6 oz. So his next weigh in we knew it would go down. So he is at 6 lbs 1 oz right now. It is a good weight right now for him. In time he will be a big boy and when we say he was 5 or 6 pounds we won't believe it. Well sorry for the delay on the update but I will let you know when he comes home. Thanks for all your prayers, we all three very much appreciate it.
