Well we got the news. Kele had her doctor’s appointment yesterday. We gave the doctor an updated on Ethan and how well he is doing, he fought off three infections, 2 surgery’s, switching between three different ventilators, and being born with his skin not fully developed. He is one unbelievable baby and amazing. The doctor said that he should be fine and a lot of babies in his condition at birth does not make it (I think the percentage is around 43%).
The doctor was saying two things about Kele and why Ethan came so early. It was premature labor but Kele didn’t show signs or symptoms of being in premature labor. If that was the case then we would have known for sure and contacted the doctor a lot earlier. So the other thing was an incompetent cervices, which he thought it was at first.
So what this will lead in the future when we have kids again is that our babies should come early every time. There is a procedure done at 14 weeks where they would sew her up. But with this procedure there can be an infection and the baby could get the infection and may not survivor. Also the doctor said that he has known people with this situation and they have had more kids and not gone through what they did the first time. So this is what was told to us.
Last night when we went to visit him, he is doing really well. They put him back on feeds, so he is getting an half of ML every hour. His weight went up and is at the highest 1lb 14 oz (840 gm). So he needs two more oz to reach 2 lbs which will be exciting. He is sores and a couple of holes he had are almost completely gone. He does open his eyes a lot and he knows when mom and dad are there. So he is one very special boy.
